Since I work at night, I wasn't able to see the season finale of Chuck until last night. Which was when it was posted online. I don't own a TV. If it wasn't for the Internet, I'd have to completely rely on recaps of shows until they come out on DVD. Thankfully, last night wasn't the case.
So I settled in to watch what would happen with Chuck. And, the episode met my expectations. Morgan, Jeff, and Lester offered comic relief. Sarah, Chuck, and Casey had to save the world. And, what looked to be a disastrous wedding for Chuck's sister, Ellie, turned out rather happily.
But, the "To be continued" at the end of the episode left me wondering. Is there going to be a season 3?
Being a librarian, I immediately googled the topic. But, NBC hasn't announced yet if Chuck will be having a new season next fall. So I found information calling for me to a buy a foot long Subway sandwich on Monday night. Since the Monday they were referring to was this past Monday night when the season finale aired, it's a little late to do that. But, I guess there's still time for me to write a personal letter to NBC executives and send them a box of Nerds candy.
Since that idea was posted the beginning of this month, I wonder if my letter and candy will make a difference.
And, as I sit here writing this post, I'm not sure what I'd even include in such a letter. I mean, I like Chuck. But, I haven't been the most loyal fan. When it started, I was curious because the premise of geek squad guy by day and government spy by night sounded promising. And, the fact that the main character work Converse shoes made me all the more intrigued.
But, then the writer's strike happened. The TV season was delayed, and I really didn't watch the show that much its first season. However, then I bought the DVD of the first season. I was in the process of moving at the time. Most of my DVDs were packed up except for Chuck. So I became hooked. And, now I've watched all the episodes of the 2nd season, but I'm wondering if I should share this with a man or woman in a suit to keep the fictional characters of Chuck, Casey, and Sarah on the air. Will my letter and box of Nerds sway them? Or, will they just end up in the trash?
I am not sure what course of action I'm going to take. To do nothing, I do not exercise my freedom of speech. But, to do something, maybe I can look back if the show is cancelled and say to myself that I tried to stop them. Or, if the show is renewed, maybe I don't have to worry at all. At least until the end of next season, right?

post 50
Apparently, this is the 50th post for my blog. Which, I suppose isn't a big deal since it's a combination of two blogs. Oh well, I guess I better make it count anyway.
There are a few things that have been going on in my life. The first is that I've cleaned my apartment twice in the past week because I thought people were coming over, and then for some reason, they can't. It's rather disappointing because me cleaning my apartment twice in a week is really an achievement and so far, I've been the only one to witness it. Hopefully, though, that will change tomorrow.
Another thing that I did was watch High School Musical 3. This admission could one day come back to haunt me. But, I enjoyed it. The choreography, rather than Troy and Gabriella, was what kept my interest. Kenny Ortega and his team are so creative using objects like tires, cars, and basketballs in their dance numbers. I heard that there might be a HSM 4 in the works, and I'd totally watch it if Ortega is on board. In fact, I might even see his remake of Footloose in theaters rather get it for free from the library. With the economy the way it is, my visits to the library have increased more than my trips to the movie theater.
My favorite thing to watch of late, though, has been the first and only season of Wonderfalls. I vaguely recall this show being on, but I was in graduate school at the time and had little time to watch TV besides study and work. But, I found out that Lee Pace was in it. He's the actor in the now cancelled, Pushing Daisies. (I missed seeing that while it was on TV, too)
But, Lee Pace caught my attention in his performance in Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day. So I do what I normally do when I'm fascinated by an actor or actress. I watch all the movies that him or her are in. A former roommate of mine compared this behavior to like a flavor of the month obsession. Lucky for her, she got to witness when I was into the work of Viggo Mortenson and Clive Owen.
So Lee Pace is what got me started in watching Wonderfalls, but I quickly became caught up in the show's quirkiness. It had me laughing and crying and really not wanting it to end. It's been a while since there has been a show that has made me do that. I mean, I like Chuck and Bones, but Wonderfalls had this sense of whimsy that made some things like inanimate objects talking to the main character, Jaye, a little crazy. But, it also had a prescence of reality laced within the show's plotlines that related to family, friends, and lovers. I could relate to Jaye in her hesitation to open herself up to the possibility of love. And,I haven't seen the love of my life marry someone else, but I have seen guys that I'm into pursue other women who weren't me.
So I guess the moral of this post is don't clean your house if you want people to come over, watch High School Musical 4 if you want to see kick ass choreography, and check out Wonderfalls if you want to see what is, I think, my favorite TV show to get the ax. And, tune in for the soon-to-come post 51. I'm not sure what it's about, yet, but I'm sure I'll think of something.

i missed the bus
Today, it snowed. So much that even the bus was slipping and sliding and it couldn't even make it up the hill. When the bus took an alternative route, I decided to get off because I was about 4 blocks away from work and I figured that walking would be better than being late. But, walking in 3 inches of snow. The experience made me know why they invented snow shoes and left me wishing that I had some.
The title of this post comes from another day when it was actually sunny and warmer. It was graduation day at work so I was wearing a skirt, top, and clogs. I made it to the mall, and I should have waited there. But, I had a chocolate craving so I ran to Target. I thought I have enough time to get some chocolate to snack on before my next bus came, but the person in front of me in the check-out line had a $320 purchase so I was later than I thought. But, I came out the door and saw the bus so I started walking fast. As I reached the back of it, the bus engine roared to life and it left with me banging on the side of it and trying to run in my clogs. Needless to say, the bus won. I was left with two people staring me and one of them saying "That bus driver was an ass, huh?"
Luckily, there was a route B that I could take and still get to work on time. So taking the bus has been interesting. Part of me wants to leave it behind by getting another car. And, the other part of me doesn't want to deal with cleaning snow off my car and worrying about sliding in the snow.

cheese snob
I have been consuming a lot of cheese lately. Recently, I talked to my sister and she told me how much my niece liked eating cheese. Like whole blocks, apparently. Being 2000 miles a way, I haven't had the chance to witness this phenomenon, but maybe I will come November if I get to visit them like I plan and if my niece still likes cheese.
No, my thing with cheese started with eggs. I decided to actually kind of cook for once. Well, let me preface by what I say 'cooking.' I do not starve, but I tend to nosh on the type of cooking that involves easy prep (like putting humas, crackers, carrots, and dip on a plate. Or, throwing something frozen in the oven or microwave.) But, at Christmas time, I was blessed to receive a small frying pan - ideal for cooking my egg favorite dish, breakfast burritos. So one day I got all the ingredients that I needed, and I realized I forgot two things - salsa, for one and cheese.
So the next day I went to buy some shredded cheese and I'm not sure what came over me. I usually tend to get mozzarella because it's usually lower in fat, but something came over me and I left the store with the Mexican blend. And, let me tell you, it really jazzed up my eggs. But, it did leave me with a spicy taste in my mouth that called for sour cream. But, of course, I put on the closest thing in my frig, dill dip. Which may sound odd, but it was either that or the strawberry yogurt. And, the dill dip worked. In fact, I used it all up on my next batch of breakfast burritos.
But, I didn't want to eat eggs with dill everyday so I was left with a bag of opened, shredded cheese in my frig. The former 4-Her in me told me that I'd have to use it up quick before it went bad. So that left me in a quandary until I had a cheesy epiphany. I came home late after work and was settling to make a favorite late night, comfort snack. Once the microwave timer went off, it hit me. I could throw in some Mexican cheese on top of my Easy Mac. Ridiculous, huh? No, that cheese melted like better and made it a melty, cheesy concoction that was too good to eat just once. In fact, I used up all the cheese on my remaining Easy Mac packets that I ate that week. And, when I went to the store this week to buy some more, I left happily with both my Mexican cheese and Easy Mac packets. In fact, just writing about them makes me hungry.
The moral of this story - who knows? I need to prepare a snack.

where I've been
I actually tried to post something a few nights ago. I had an entry written up, and then the computer timed out so my post was, of course, lost down the vacuum of cyberspace. That's okay because I really didn't think it was interesting entry. I just talked about being without a computer for 3 weeks until I got it fixed.
Surprisingly, in my computer drought, I did okay except I had to go out and buy a portable DVD player right away. Although it's true that I can't go 3 weeks without watching a movie, fate would have it that I'd get a whole stack of movies that I requested from the library the same time that computer crashed. And, since I don't own a TV, my computer was my main apperatus for movies.
I corrected that by purchasing a DVD player with a 10 inch screen. It's one that families purchase to keep their kids quiet on long road trips Besides a electrical plug, it also had one that fit into the cigarette liter of a car. So it kept me happily situated in movie land while I waited it out until the rain came and my computer was restored to it's whirring, normal state.
It's sad because I watched movies and I really can't remember all of them that I saw. But, I did want to mention one that I saw tonight that awoke me from my movieland slumber. It was In the Name of the King A Dungeon Siege Tale. Although it did entertain me, there was one character that particularly disturbed me. It was Ray Liotta's character, Gallian, that got under my skin and stirred something that has pissed me off in a few movies that I've seen. Shooter was one of them. Both had an evil guy who takes advantage of women to hurt other men that were their enemy. I hate seeing women abused and dominated by men on screen. Granted, the In the Name of the King did have Leelee Sobieski playing an Eowyn-like character. She was a noble woman who drew a sword to fight.
I have no sword, and I realize this post raises issues related to gender roles that I am not ready to tackle, yet. But, hopefully, posting this entry will at least help me sleep a little better even if I am just skirmishing with enemy.

pondering planes and other modes of transportation
I am beginning to wonder if it's possible to fly without having a flight cancelled. When I flew west at Christmas, my flights were cancelled on the way their and back due to weather. And, then today, my dad was suppose to fly to see me and his flight was cancelled.
It got me thinking how unpleasant flying has become. I mean, it used to be exciting. Getting the peanuts or pretzels. Going to a place in a few hours that would normally take a day or more by car. But, now it's a few hours of anxiety. Will I make it to my plan on time? Is my luggage going to arrive like it should? Or, misery. Being stuck somewhere and not being able to spend as much time with family and friends.
I am not sure where this post is going. But, I am wondering if there are other people like me that are questioning the benefits of flying. I mean, I know the airlines have had it rough. High fuel costs, a sinking pool of people being able to afford their high ticket prices because the economy is not behaving like it should. And, the cancelled flights that I mentioned above were caused by the weather. Which I know is something that the airlines can't control. But, I still think it might be a while before I fly anywhere. Maybe I will, though, when the weather improves.

Blogging again
I've changed this blog and consolidated my posts from a previous blog into this blog. So that's why there's later posts than when I actually created this blog. Also, I kind of combined my personal and professional posts. For a while, I was participating in 23 Things. That's librarian-speak for trying to be hip on Web 2.0 stuff. So that's why there are a few posts titled "thing 1," etc.
Needless to say, I didn't quite finish the 23 things. I kind of lost steam on them since I had to do them on my own time rather than while I was at work. Oh, by the way, I've changed jobs. I am an associate librarian in an academic library now. Before, I was a clerical worker with her librarian degree in a research library. Considering how uncertain things are right now with the economy, I was happy to find this new career opportunity. But, I did have to move about 70 miles so I'm living in a new town with a new job. And, I recently got into a car accident. (The people involved were okay, but the vehicles' weren't so much.) So I'm taking a new mode of transportation - the metro bus.
But, I am still pretty much the same person. One that likes to collect Converse shoes although I haven't been wearing them as much with the new job. I can wear them for casual Friday, but otherwise, I have to wear more professional-looking footwear. And, I'm still the gal that likes to blog about movies and books that she's read. With movies, I kind have recently re-acquainted myself with The Goonies and 10 Things I Hate About You. The first for it's shots of Canon Beach and Astoria, OR. The storyline of kids finding treasure to save their homes is touching, too. And, the latter because it's my favorite Heath Ledger movie. Granted, I haven't seen The Dark Knight so I'm not saying that 10 Things is Heath's best film. But, I always get a kick out of Heath's and Julia Stiles' characters falling for each other even though they didn't fancy each other at first. The scenery of sunny, Seattle is a nice pick-me-up, too, since I have to look at lots of white snow outside.
Books - I've read a few old favorites from my collection. Of course, once I've unearthed them from my many boxes. Currently, I'm reading The Garbage Man Always Comes on Fridays 12 Steps for Improving Your Relationship with God. It's helped me deal the car accident which, unfortunately, was my fault. In the book, the author also made a life-changing mistake so she writes about how God put her life back together once she gave up the parts of her life that were keeping her from Him. I'm finding the book encouraging and helpful. I'm still working on taking out the selfish parts of my life, but I am thankful that God is patient with me and keeping me company through the process.
